Roofing in Extreme Heat

ree

Extreme Heat This Week

This week’s temperatures are on the rise. Working on roofs in extreme heat requires careful consideration of the materials used and the safety of our workers. In extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, the materials used can be affected. Our hardworking laborers may suffer from heat-related illnesses if left working in these extremely high temperatures for prolonged periods.

Materials Used

High temperatures, similar to freezing temperatures, can cause asphalt shingles to expand and contract. This leads to cracking, curling, and brittleness in the shingles, which compromises their integrity. We want your roof to last you a long time and to be installed properly. Having your roof installed at the right time by the right people will make a world of difference. Trust StormCare Roofing with your roof. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule while taking into account weather conditions to ensure your roof is properly installed.

Safety of Our Laborers

Our laborers are working outdoors. This means directly in the sun, so if there is an extremely hot, sunny day, it’s not safe for them to be working. We put the safety of our workers at the top of our priorities. Ensuring their health and well-being is important to us. We want to take care of our workers so that they can take care of your roof.

Some ways we ensure laborer safety:

  • Access to water: Staying hydrated is essential for maintaining bodily functions, such as temperature regulation. This lets the body regulate its temperature through sweating.

  • Protective clothing: We offer lightweight, long-sleeved t-shirts that protect against the sun while allowing for airflow, keeping our workers both cool and safe from the sun's harmful rays.

  • Planning the day: Planning the start, end, and break times throughout the day makes it easier to avoid the hottest points of the day. Working around these times, we can strategically plan the best time to work and put our workers out of the highest temperatures.
